Adjustable Attachment for Freight-Car Doors.

Description: Patent for a mechanism that creates "an adjustable attachment for freight-car doors, for preventing sparks and other objectionable matter from getting into the cars, and means for operating the attachment that is adapted for use in securing the door in different positions of adjustment, and for connection with the body of the car by means of a seal-support, in order that the fixed adjustment of the door cannot be changed without breaking the seal" (lines 12-21).

Car Door.

Description: Patent for a new and improved door for railroad cars. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the car having the door-opening with its upper and lower edges parallel and inclined upward and inward, and the bolt-keeper secured to the sill of the car, of the door having correspondingly-inclined upper and lower edges, the guide-staple and fulcrum-bracket secured to the door at proper points, the operating-lever pivoted to said bracket, the link-rods and bolt, the [other] link-rod pivoted at its lower end to the operating-lever" (lines 4-14).

Construction of Doors or Window-Sashes.

Description: Patent for "improvements in the construction of doors and window-sashes, the object being to provide a door or window-sash which shall be constructed of two pieces of timber united by means of a key to prevent warping or twisting" (lines 8-13). The panel of the door or the pane of glass can also be united by the key. This design lightens and cheapens doors and window-sashes.

[Signs at a Republican Rally]

Description: Photograph of signs posted at the entrance of League City Civic Center, where a rally for Republican presidential candidate David Duke was held. The double entrance doors are made of tinted glass, as are the windows next to them. On the doors are signs that say, "Entrance Only." A single sign to the left of the doors reads, "All handbags, purses, & carry-in items will be searched for security reasons."
