Postcard of a fire department at their station, lined up with five horse-drawn vehicles outside their respective garage doors. To the right of the rightmost wagon, there is a sixth door that says, "Police." On the back of the postcard, the sender has left a handwritten message that says, "An account of the stupendous amount of work in my department at present. I am unable to make up my list of correspondents. For this you can permit me to decline your offer."

A letter written to Mr. T. N. Carswell, Parramore Post No. 57, American Legion, Abilene, Texas, from D. L. Kirk, Assistant Editor, Spokane Daily Chronicle, dated December 23, 1941. Kirk makes reference to the letter from Carswell requesting the definition of Americanism and advises of the enclosed clipping of an editorial he wrote in answer. The clipping contains an article titled "What Does Americanism Mean," and was published in the Spokane Daily Chronicle on page 4.
