Description: James Aaron was born and raised in Pleasantville, a predominately African American neighborhood in Houston, TX. After highschool, he would join the People's Party II. He discusses growing up with Carl Hampton, segregation in Houston, the community activities of the People's Party II, and how he would become the leader of the party after the Dowling Shootout. He also talks in depth about the goal and purpose of the Rainbow Coalition, which comprised of the People's Party II, the John Brown Revolutionary League and the Mexican American Youth Organization.

Oral History Interview with Peter Almond, June 4, 2004

Description: Interview with Dr. Peter Almond talking about the history radiation therapy. He outlines the various treatments including the x-ray, cobolt-60, betatron, magnetron, klystron and cyclotron. He also talks about the emerging field of proton therapy. He also describes the early history of radiotherapy at MD Anderson especially under the direction of Drs. Gilbert Fletcher and Leonard Grimmet.

Apparatus for Making Cotton-Bales.

Description: Patent for improvement in apparatus for making cotton-bales from continuous sheets or bats by “employing only a single press and which permits the ginning and bat-forming devices to be operated continuously which accumulated the cotton in light and fleecy condition during the covering and removal of the bales, which feeds the cotton from the accumulator to the baling apparatus whenever this is desired.” (Lines 68-75) Illustration is included.

Car Coupling.

Description: Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "consists in the combination, with a draw-head, of an L-shaped lever pivoted in the same and provided at its angle with a lug, which L-shaped lever has a coupling-pin suspended from the end of the long arm, and has its short arm passed into an aperture in the inner end of a bar sliding in the bottom of the draw-head, whereby when the lug is depressed the coupling-pin will be raised and the bar in the draw-head will push the link out from the end of the draw-head" (lines 7-17).

Railway Signal.

Description: Patent for a new and improved railroad signal. This design consists in "[a] continuous electric conductor extending beside a railroad, a contact-maker borne by a train, an electric galvanic battery, a stationary transmitter, and a train provided with transmitting and receiving instruments on two or more members of the train and connected with the electric circuit in multiple arc . . . whereby a message can be sent to each member simultaneously" (lines 8-17).
