Q micy received him with an icy
stare. His manner toward the
young applicant was tha' of a man
who is compelled to administer re-

frjrn him went again to s.'e him
and was nearly chilled through by
the frigidity ol t e atmosphere
which era3nied from Q tincy.
Tnen he went to one of his sena.

said to him: Go again to Mr.

the senator suggested. A day or

New Oki.ea.ns Oct. 18. Glenny
& Co. say: Liverpool closed 4-G4
down on futures but the Bpot sales
ore 20 OjO bales with prices un-
changed and the active demand
freely met.
New York at the opening call
advanced from four points decline
on November to four points advance
on late months. Afterwards sold
at 7 points advance and at 1:20
was at yesterday's closing figures.
New Orleans opened five points
up and with a few fluctuations at
12:30 is 2 points under yesterday.
While Liverpool futures were
affected by Neill'a estimate the
advance rumors of it seem to have
been already discounted before the
actual publication. Tho reports of
the storm in the Mississippi valley
advanced New York and New
Orleans sympathized but the large
Liverpool spot sales without put-
ting up price-- and the shadow of
the Neill estimate was afterwards
felt in causing the loss of the morn-
ing advance.
