A message ;from Lawyer Bennett
at Cooper announces that Garrett
Slade was today acquited in the dis-
trict court at that place.
It will be remembered that Slade
killed his .brother-in-law 3. Chris
Ion the streets -of Cooper in tho fall
ot 1899. The case was' transferred
to this county and was dismissed on
account of a defect in the indict-
ment. Another indictment was re-
turned by the Delta connty grand
jury and the case went to trial
Tuesday.
The circumstances of tho killing
were similar tothose of the Morgan
caso tried here the last term of the
district court there being apparent
danger andi on this was based the
plea of self-Sefense.
