DALLAS, Tx.— At a recent
lectureship at Abilene Christian
College, brother Batsell Barrett
Baxter, at the annual elder,
preacher, deacon dinner, made
the suggestion that retirement
plans be considered for ministers
of the Gospel. Following through
on this suggestion, brother John
Stevens, the president of Abilene
Christian College, appointed an
ad hoc committee which met in
Dallas, Texas and discussed

the problems confronted by

are temporarily living in the

a church of Christ missionary,
Kieth Mitchell of Jamestown
Road.
A Hindu priest, a Japanese
banker’s wife, an employee from
the Irish Mission to the United
Missions, an ambassador from
Swaziland, and an Australian
nurse may be sitting around a
table in Suite 6351 at Five World
Trade Center on a given
afternoon discussing the New
Testament in broken English.
The class is a service activity
of the International Mission (IM)
of the church of Christ, one of
the first tenants in the tall twin
towers of the trade center.
International groups study
English from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
each day in the church’s
language center. Most of them
have studied English, but their
. ears are not tuned in to under-
standing it.
Mr. Mitchell is one of the two
full time teaching ministers on
the mission staff. Press
Higginbotham of Piscataway,
who has 12 years of African
mission experience, is the other.
The staff also includes two full
time evangelists, one Chinese
and the other Korean, who are
starting ethnic churches in the
city.
Mr. Mitchell said the purpose
of the mission is to help
establish and enrich relationships
of man with man and of man
with God. The mission is located
