trict clerk, last a valuable gold watcb
that bad been in the possession of bis
father for .many years and which he
valued more dearly because of it hav-
ing been his father's than because of
its value in gold. Rewards were of
fered but to no effect. A few days
since Joe Whitby, col., who is in the
employ of Ely A Cook, saw Joe Bell,
a colored teamster who resides in
North Brougbton street in possession
cf a neat gold watch and asked to be
allowed to see it. Bell let him have
the watch and Wl itby at once car-
ried it to Mr. Walter Dickeman, who
recognised it as the lost watch of Mr.
Heat), who was sent far and took
possession of the same. Bell finally
made tlie statement that lie had
found the' watch between Dugsn Hill
and tbe Shannon Prairie in Fairview,
He did not slate when he fpund if,
but it was some months since.
