Reminder From IRS
AUSTIN, TEXAS - A law
change regarding Forms W-2
and W-2P requires employers to
send those forms to the Social
Security Administration instead
of Internal Revenue Service, an
IRS spokesperson said today.
Texas employers should mail
Copy A along with a Form W-3
to the Social Security Ad-
ministration, Albuquerque Data
Operations Center,
Albuquerque, NM 87180. The
deadline for filing these forms is
February 28, 1979
Robert M. McKeever, Austin
IRS District Director, said the
forms will be processed by the
Social Security Administration,
which will then furnish the
income tax data to Internal
Revenue Service.
He pointed out that the new
procedure should reduce
paperwork for employers
because the forms will include
social security information as
well as employee earnings
information, with computation
for quarterly wage coverage
being determined on an annual
basis.
