24 SPECIAL LAWS.
fore issued on behalf of the said Hull Independent School District
be and the same are hereby validated and declared to be
in full force and effect, and the tax levies that may hereafter
be levied in accordance with law governing shall be levied upon
all property, real, personal and mixed, situated within the
boundaries herein described.
SEC. 5. Providing hereby that bonded or other valid indebtedness
now existing against any Common School District, a part
of which territory may be embraced herein, in the hereby enlarged
and created Hull-Daisetta Independent School District
shall be assumed by the said Hull-Daisetta Independent School
District in such proportionate amount as relates to such indebtedness
of such district and the year 1926 property valuations
thereof, and as relates to property valuations. in such territory
as decreased therefrom and embraced herein, the same to be assumed
as provided by the General Laws.
SEC. 6. Providing hereby that the board of trustees of the
Hull-Daisetta Independent School District may hereafter increase
and enlarge said district from territory of any adjoining
common school district in Liberty County upon the petition of
a majority of the property tax paying qualified voters of such
territory, whereupon, the board of trustees of the Hull-Daisetta
Independent School District may declare such territory to become
and be a part of the said independent school district, and
may re-define the boundaries of said independent school district
in conformity thereto, and any valid indebtedness of such
territory shall be assumed by said independent school district
in accordance with the last assessed valuation prior thereto, as
provided in the General Laws.
SEC. 7. The said Hull-Daisetta Independent School District
as hereby created, established and enlarged, shall have and exercise,
and is hereby vested with all the rights, powers, privileges
and duties of a town or village incorporated under the General
Laws of the State of Texas for free school purposes only, and
the board of trustees of the Hull-Daisetta Independent School
District, which shall be composed of seven persons who are resident
citizens and qualified voters within said district, as is provided
by General Law, shall have and exercise, and are hereby
vested and charged with all the rights, powers, privileges and
duties conferred and imposed by the General Laws of this State
uplon the trustees of independent school districts, and all of the
General Laws of this State applicable to towns or villages incorporated
for free school purposes only not in conflict with this
Act are applied to and declared to be in full force and effect
with respect to the Hull-Daisetta Independent School District
of Liberty County, Texas, as hereby created, established and enlarged.
SEC. 8. If any part of this Act shall be held by a court of
competent jurisdiction to be void or invalid, it shall not void or
vitiate the remaining portion of this Act, but said remaining
portion thereof shall be and continue in full force and effect.
