PREFACE
I have made a special endeavor to complete the printing of the
laws of the regular session of the Fortieth Legislature and make
them available to the public at the earliest possible date. To
this end, about the middle of the session we began sending the
laws to the printer as they were received from the Governor;
and, as a result, the laws were put in print as fast as they came
to this office. However, it will be remembered that the Governor
has twenty days after adjournment to act on the various
measures, and he was unable to dispose of all of them until the
time had expired, which in this instance was April 5, 1927.
On April 6 the last of the laws, approved by the Governor or
which he permitted to become laws without his signature, were
delivered to the printer; and I feel sure that the printer, in turn,
will deliver the printed laws by the 11th or 12th of April, which
will be six or seven days after the last of them were received at
this office.
This has been done as quickly as it was possible for the index,
etcetera, to be prepared and for the laws to be printed.
Special attention is called to the indexing. which is the work
of Judge L. C. Sutton.
Respectfully,
JANE Y. McCALLUM,
Secretary of State.
Austin, Texas, April 9, 1927.
