City Manager Broz
takes Port Lavaca iob
□ Has been with
City of Brady
for over 10 years
By AMANDA HOWELL
After 13 years with the City of
Brady, city manager Gary Broz has
made his resignation official. Effec-
tive Nov 10, Broz will no longer be
employed as Brady City Manager and
will take the same position in Port
Lavaca.
Accepting another city manager
position in Port Lavaca, Broz's deci-
sion to relocate to that area didn't
come hastily He was offered the same
position in Alpine, a community he
grew quite fond of during his college
years.
Located 300 miles south of Brady,
Port Lavaca is home to more than
13,000 residents. It's located on the
coast, half way between Gavcston and
Corpus Christi
"My family was a big influence in
my decision," said Broz. "Both of the
positions presented challenges, but
we felt that Port Lavaca is a step up.
Alpine is the same size as Brady and about twice the size of Brady’s that is

and I promised
I would not up-

added Broz.

Making county public offices more
accessible to the public was a topic of
much concern in Monday's special
meeting of the McCulloch County
Commissioners.
Aftercareful consideration of three
different buildings in the Brady area,
the Commissioners voted Monday to
purchase the old Brady Printing build-
ing on West Commerce Street.
The primary focus of the building
will be to house the tax assessor
collector's office which is currently
located on the first floor of the Mc-
Culloch County Courthouse.
Because the office gets the heavi-
est traffic coming in and out of the
courthouse, the Commissioners felt it
a necessity to make the office more
accessible.
"That building was selected be-
cause of its close proximity to the
courthouse, the tax appraisers office
and the police department," said Mc-
Culloch County Judge Randy Young.
"It also has adequate parking, is
wheelchair accessible and has a drive
through window making it a greater
convenience."
Though the building's primary
function will be to house the tax as-
sessor collector's office, another por-
tion of the office will either be rented

got No. Is.
The rain was a factor, said Brady
band director of 15 years, Butch
Crudgington, who is assisted by Brian
Owen and Mike Devenport.
"It rained the heaviest on the
Reagan County, Junction and
Coleman bands from 1:30p.mto2:15
