Mrs. Josie Mays Greathouse,
wife of Milton E. Greathouse,
died at their home in Shérman
Friday afternoon at 5 o'clock, at
the age of 20 years and 29 days.
The remains were shipped here
and the funeral too* place Sun-
day afternoon st the residence of
F. O. Greathouse, the services
being conducted by Rev, J. W.
Goodwin, ana the burial took
place in Masonic cemetery.
Deceased was a daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. T. F. Mays and
was born and raised in this
county. In 1901 she was hap-
pily married to Milton E. Great-
house and they made their home
in the Urazos bottom until two
years ago, when they moved to
Sherman.
In early life she joined the
Methodist church, of which she
was always afterward a devout
member. Born with a sunny
disposition, she was admired by
all who ever knew her. It can
be truthfully said of her that she
was a pure,sweet Christian lady,
her life being a benediction to all
around her. Her husband and
the following children Survive
her: Walter, age 9; Marie, age
7; Vernon, age 5, and Edna, ago
1. The bereaved family has the
sympathy of friends everywhere.

States Array, assisted by Col. E.
E. Walker, inspected the Burles-
on Guards last Thursday after-
noon. The boys made a fine
showing and everything pertain-
ing to the company was found to
be square up to the requirements.

Fine Brick Passenger Depot.
Hi
The Ledger man has been in-
formed on good authority that
the Santa Fe will in the uear fu-
ture erect a tine brick passenger
depot on the site of the present
one. The old depot will be
moved further up the track and
used as a freight depot. Just
when this will be done is not
definitely known, but will in all
probability be accomplished the
latter part of this ooming sum-
mer.
This is a much needed and
long wanted improvement and is
welcome news to the traveling
public.

Two Negros Accidently Shot.
Last Thursday afternoon at
Joe Bowers railroad camp be-
tween here anci Doanville two
negroes were accidently shot,
Mr. Bowers accidentlly discharg-
ed ¡in automatic pistol. The ball
hit something that caused it to
glance and it went through the
hand of one negro and lodged
just beneath the skin on the
belly of another one.
Fine Recita).
The rauHic pupils of Miss Maud
James gave a recital in the op-
era house Thursday evening to a
large audience. A splendid pro-
gram liad been arranged for the
occasion, every number being a
fine selection, well rendered. It
was a tirst-class entertainment
and demonstrated Miss James to
be an accomplished and efficient
teacher. All who attended were
immensely pleased with theeveu-
iug's entertainment.
Rev. W. C. Dunn, district su-
perintendent of the Anti-Saloon
league, was here from Houston
Sunday. There was a meeting
in the Methodist church that
morning, and iu the evening an-
other meeting wss held in the
Baptist church.
