Mrs. J. M. Thompson (Mrs. Susan Ann Thompson) was born November 22, 1849, in Cherokee
County, Alabama. She married Joseph M. Thompson and had 10 children. Four died in infancy,
two others also died: Mrs. Will Martin and M. J. Thompson County Judge of Erath Co. Mrs.
Thompson is survived by 4 children: Mrs. J. H. Beavers of Longview; Mrs. C, E. Pete of
Lubbock; J. D. Thompson, Dallas; J. B. Thompson, Los Angeles; seventeen grandchildren, and
nine great- grandchildren. She was laid to rest in Stephenville, Texas, next to her husband.
November 23, 1939
Mrs. J. P. George of Concord Community, died on August 1, 1939, at the home of a daughter in
Kansas City, Kansas. Miss Laura Grimes was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. T. J. Grimes of
Hale County, Alabama, born January 10, 1868. In 1892, she married J. P. George of Bowie
County.
She is survived by her husband, three daughters, Mrs. Claudie Wharton, Kansas City; Mrs.
Clarah Powell, New Iberia, Louisiana; Mrs. Ruth Connell, Belcher, Louisiana; one son, Homer
George, Beaumont, Texas, two sisters, Mrs. A.C. Langston, Mrs. F. B. Phares and one brother
W. D. Grimes, Redwater, Texas.
Funeral Services were held at the Concord Methodist Church on August 3, 1939.
Mrs. Sara Elizabeth Ryon, nee Jones, was born on January 6, 1842, in Gordon, Georgia. She
came to Erath County, Texas, with her family when she was a child. On November 1, 1876, she
married James L. Ryon. They had 3 sons, J. W. Ryon, R. E. Ryon, and J. E. Ryon.
She died on July 26, 1930.
Mrs. H. J. King aged 77, of Wharton, County died in her home in Glen Flora on August 31,
1939. She was born Evalina Collier Puette on May 18, 1862, in Lenoir, North Carolina. She
married and came to Wharton County, Texas, with her husband. She is survived by her husband,
two daughters, Mrs. W. E. Hassler, Goose Creek; Mrs. Lou Beth Lang, of Glen Flora; five
grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Emma Boone of Weaubleau, Missouri.
Funeral services were held November 3, 1939, in the Glen Flora Methodist Church.
Mrs. Mary Walton Dailey was born in Campbell County, Georgia, on July 31, 1856. When she
was two, the family moved to Alabama. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gideon
Johnson. In 1869, they moved to Texas in Hayes, County, near San Marcos. In 1879, she married
Andrew B. Dailey and had eight children, two of whom survive: Mr. W. B. Dailey of Las
Cruces, New Mexico; Mrs. G. C. Erlanger, McAllen, Texas, and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Jno. W. Holt, nee La Nora Charlotta Elizabeth Miller, was born on April 30, 1861, to
Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lewis Miller of Johnson County, Tennessee. At the age of seventeen, La
Nora married Rev. James Oliver Armstrong. They had five children: Lula and Wesley
(deceased), daughters Mrs. G. C. Brown (Ethel), Mrs. R. E. Jackson (Velma), and Mrs. A. B.
Buttrill (Iva Lee). Later in life, La Nora married Rev. Jno. W. Holt. She is survived by one
