Itoyal Arch Masons.
Wednesday evening, March 21st, promises a grand display and
a very enjoyable entertainment at the town hall at 7:30 o'clock.
The Royal Arch Masons will turn out royally robed and install
the officers publicly. The Most E. G. H. Priest, G. C. Scott, of
Fort Worth, will officiate. An invitation is also extended to the

Ilegular Monthly Hop.
Next Tuesday evening the young men of Thurber will give
another of their regular monthly hops at the town hall. It is pro-
posed to make this one of the most enjoyable events yet had, as
the new string band, composed of a half dozen pieces, has been
secured, and the young men will leave nothing undone that would
aid in making it a really enjoyable affair. A small admission fee
will be charged (ladies free), as to secure this band an outlay
greater than usual will be necessary.
Be There To-Morrow.
To-morrow afternoon at 2 o'clock the Mutual Aid and Benefit
association meets in the town hall. At the meeting last Sunday
the by-laws and constitution were read, and at to-morrow's meet-
ing the same will be adopted, with any changes agreed upon. It
is important that you should be in attendance, as the progress
made since the scheme was first inaugurated is wonderful, and
everybody declares it "a good thing." A new secretary is to be
elected to-morrow, as Mr. Riddle, the man first elected, has re-
signed. Don't forget the hour—2 o'clock.
Notes from Hunter, or the "Y."
Hunter, Tex., March 16, 1894.
To The Miner:
W. G. Berry, foreman of the coal chutes, and daughter, Mrs.
Dixon, went to Palo Pinto to attend court Tuesday.
T. J. Kelley, agent here, went to Fort Worth for a day on
business. Mr. Parker, day operator, acted in his place while Mr.
Kelley was absent.
Mr. Paul, our division superintendent and Mr. Larimer, our
chief train dispatcher, of Fort Worth, paid our town a short call
while on their way to Thurber. These two gentlemen we are
always happy to see. Their gentle, kind, yet firm, will is felt
by all.
Mr J. Y. Burke, roadmaster, has returned home after a short
vacation, and is quite as fat and saucy as ever and looking after
business with a sharp eye. There are no flies on J. Y.
Some sneak thief entered the caboose of Conductor Smith
while here in the yard getting out loads Thursday and got away
with two suits of clothes, a Smith & Wesson revolver, slicker
coat and a diamond stud valued at $100. The thief was located
here and Mr. J. Cowden put on his trail, but up to the present
writing we have heard nothing of his capture. If he is to be
found "JefF'will get him. Mr. Smith has* offered $10 for his
capture.
The children all say of Mr. H. K. Thurber that he is the hap-
piest looking old man they ever saw. With a liberal heart and
free conscience, how could he be otherwise than a happy man.

CRONACA ITALIANA.
LOCALI •=
Nessuno. E' che svantaggi ne soffre ? Diversi. In primo
