On Monday, March 26th
die Crusaders for Life
invited Fr. Robinson
r<> lead a discussion on the Roe
W1 W'ade decision and tlie present
condition of the United States
abortion laws.
Fr.
Robinson is
the Pro-life
coordinator
for the
Diocese
of Dallas
and resides
here as a
priest of the
Dominican
order. He has extensively studied
the political, cultural, ethical,
and theological aspects of
abortion, and his insight made
the discussion very engaging and
though t-p rovo king.
"What is a human? When
does human life begin? What
does it mean to have a right to
life?" Fr. Robinson kicked off the
discussion with these questions.
In attempting to answer them, die
conversation's focus grew broader
in scope and turned to die Natural
Law critiques of modernity and
moral relativism. "Abortion is
just one symptom of [a greater
problem]," Fr. Robinson said.
The origins of die controversial
Roe Y. Wade decision are
here in Dallas. In the 1970s,
attorneys Linda Coffee and Sarah
Weddington filed a lawsuit on the
behalf of Norma L. McCorvey,
a.k.a. Jane Roe. Unable to get an
abortion in the state of Texas,
they appealed her case until it
reached die US Supreme Court.
The Court ruled in McCorvey's
favor in a 7-2 decision.
Fr. Robinson encouraged
the meeting's attendees to get
involved and make dieir presence
felt in national politics.

Butterfly" directed by Laura
Berrios, is set during the Holocaust
in die Nazi Ghetto Theresienstadt.
It follows the emotional story of
ajewish girl, Rajah, who ends up
die only survivor in a group of
children. Sensitively presented
and gripping, this show is aimed
to bring awareness to die threats
Of genocide today as well.
"Dostoyevsky's Crime and
Punishment" directed by Hugh
Swiney, brilliantly captures
psychological destruction of
anxiety and die interior struggle of
a guilty conscious in die character
Raskolnikov. Exceptional acting
kept the audience involved in
this compelling and intense
performance of die novel set in
impoverished Russia.
