Hy det - Nephew yours of this June informing me of Mr Reeds -
disapointing you, came t) hand day before yesterday. I was mortifyed
as I had no expectdind of Austin Bryan drawing onifisr foi money* nor
was he authorised by me to do so nor was Mr Reed directed to pay
I would have sent you an order for a particu amount but not knowing
exactly what Reed owed me I seat it you for the Rg balance dua. I
sent y3S3a Reed a note on Vm S. Richardson for six hundred seventy one
98/10. Dollars due about the first of this ronth which iute Richard-
son promised to pay at maturity. I hearwlth trasmit to you an order
for the proceeds If collected and if not an order for him to transfer
to you one I have in the rteam Packet Columbia which he hold in his
name for me which I wish you to sell for what it will bring to re-
place the m^ney you advanced the orriginal cost of the share was one
thousand Dollars the Rax* ba38i has refunded ^400. which with commission^
and other ex^ences it now actually costs me about $650- but as the
boat has been doing a very good business this season there ought to
be a considerable divident now due however all this you will h^ve
to inquire into and do the best you can with it for me.
I would have offered you mr business when you first commenced business
but Reed wa in advance to me and I felt bound to continue it xih* with
him at least until^I could square up. I am now free and if it will
be of any advantage to you to do it on the uscal terms that planters
