ATop: Chief scout of the U.S. Army, Texas Ranger, and U.S. Border Patrol
agent, John R. Peavey, owned this revolver. Colt Model 1872 single-action
revolver, .45 caliber. Nickel-plated finish, mother-of-pearl grips. Serial num-
ber 32268. According to Proofhouse.com, the M1872 SA bearing this num-
ber left the Colt factory in 1876. A Left: This revolver belonged to Casimiro
Perez-Alvarez, deputy U.S. marshal along the South Texas border region
between 1902 and 1924. Colt Model 1872 single-action revolver, known
popularly as the "Peacemaker"; .44 caliber. Blued finish, mother-of-pearl
grips. Serial number 175822. According to Proofhouse.com, the M1872 SA
bearing this number left the Colt factory in 1898. Both of these guns are
from the collection of the Museum of South Texas History, Edinburg.AAbove: This nickel-plated .45 automatic, built by Colt Manufacturing
Company, was taken from the death car of outlaws Clyde Barrow and
Bonnie Parker. Frank Hamer, the ex-Texas Ranger who with the aid of sev-
eral law enforcement officers shot and killed the couple, gave the pistol to
Texas Prison System manager, Lee Simmons. Hamer said that the pistol was
found in the lap of Bonnie Parker underneath a magazine. The Simmons
family later loaned the gun to the Texas Prison Museum in Huntsville, where
it is now on display. Ted Hinton, one of the posse of six men who ambushed
Bonnie and Clyde and the last survivor of that group, later stated that this
firearm was one of six civilian pistols found in the Bonnie and Clyde death

Colonel Charles Goodnight carried this Plains rifle while he was a Texas Ranger during the Civil War, and he used
it to hunt buffalo. The rifle is inscribed on the top of the barrel with Matthew 6:33: "Seek ye first the Kingdom of
God and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you." From the Goodnight-Haley Collection at
