With the defeat of Cleburne in the hands of North Side, both Mineral
Wells and North Side were claimants for the title of this section. The
battle between them was staged in Mineral Wells, on October 29th.
The visitors received the kick-off at the west goal. With a series of
end runs and line bucks by North Side and a punting game by Mineral
Wells the quarter ended in the center of the field. In the second period
the visitors by a series of end runs, line bucks, and long punts worked
the ball into Mineral Wells' territory and were dangerous. For a time it
looked as if they were going to score, but Mineral Wells tightened and
held near the goal line for downs and then punted out of danger. The
half ended with most of it being played in Mineral Wells' territory.
In the third period Mineral Wells opened with a rush. By a series
of line bucks and end runs the ball was carried into the visitors' territory,

line before the quarter ended. The last quarter was opened with exchange

Mineral Wells 9, Weatherford College 13
With the ruling of the Interscholastic League that Electra were
champions after the defeat they gave North Side, our next game was with
the heavy Weatherford College team at Weatherford. Being out of our
class but played as a game away from home and to give the team exper-
ience against older and experienced men.
All of the points were made by Cash, who scored the first touchdown
after a sensational run of 55 yards through a broken field, in the second
quarter. Again in the third quarter Cash kicked a beautiful field goal
for the other three points. Brewster, McMeen, Saxon, Cash, Griffin and
Carter were the stars of the game.
For Weatherford College Knox and Mitchell were the chief ground
gainers, scoring one touchdown each but kicking only one goal.
The Weatherford College gained a very hard earned victory. At all
times the rooters were behind their college team.
The final score ended with Weatherford holding the big end, 13 to 9.Fl
