SENIOR HISTORY
In the year 1912, at 8:30 o'clock on the morning of September 8,
there was heard the voice of a shy but smiling group of girls, and
bashful but boisterous boys. The girls had on little checked aprons
with their hair braided down their backs, while the little men had on
their first "real" breeches and a hair ribbon for a tie. The instructors
with voices deep and clear who imparted knowledge to that band for
seven years, little realized that some day these very timid little men
and women would emerge into satins and tailored trousers.
This company of students labored in the fields of knowledge
until the eighth year which found them going into a new territory.
They had been found so studious that their overseers had transported
them to a place where their laborers were called High School Students.
The Science, English, History and Algebra were new and very diffi-
cult that year and often they would lay their burdens aside and look
up the road to Senior City and say "It might have been".
This little "Impish" crowd had been snubbed by everybody and
they were named dumbbells, but the ninth year was quite different.
The crowd settled down to a more studious attitude and became used
to High School ways, which had so completely baffled them in their
"Fish" year. In this year they were combined with the Seniors in
the literary organization--Seniors, Sophs, Juniors, Fish. With all their
"studiousness", they are not as yet very artistic- they still like simple
things.
The tenth year found them even more studious and confi-
dent, but still a fun-loving and carefree bunch. They went more
smoothly and more rapidly this year and the students accomplished
many things, especially in activities, they proved a very large part.
/i The eleventh year found the pupils with a clear conscience, yet
a little sad, for they were leaving on the "Senior Limited" for college.
There had been much fun and excitement as well as work to attain
their goal, and to progress from "dumbbells" to the present place of
"classy, dignified, looked-up-to Seniors."
