^American way
JpOR thirty years the Boy Scouts of America has been train-
ing Scouts as members of Patrols and Troops, in the
American Way. Let us be constantly alert for opportunities
to cooperate and render service. Let us cultivate our capacity
to understand and care about other people. Let us be tolerant
and respect the rights of others. Let us develop courage, self-
reliance. Let us be vigilant in showing by our speech and action
our faith in America, our faith in God.
As Scout citizens, let us accept our responsibility for extend-
ing among those with whom we come in contact their under-
standing and appreciation of the ideals of Scouting and the
principles that have made us a great democracy.
