Barry appointed overseer of Brewster's Bluff Road, to work from the west bank
of Sabine River to 2 miles on said road from river, and have all hands within
half mile of Grand or Brewster's Bluff to work and keep road.

Alford Allred appointed Overseer on Allred or Grand-Bluff Road, working from
Trammel Trace to the bridge near Hoskin's Blacksmith Shop; to have hands as
follows: Semour Allred, William Barbee, Samuel Pike and hands, E. Sweatt,
H. Smally, D. Williams and all others who have or may settle within these
bounds.
P. H. Hoskins appointed Overseer on Grand-Bluff Road from the bridge near his
Blacksmith Shop to the bridge near Dr. Stone's andihave these hands: Joseph
Collins, Robert Collins, Mitchell Garrison, G. S. Scroggs, G. W. Sweatt,
Abner Herrin and hands, James and John Forsythe, and others who have or do
move in.
Ordered that Jesse Sender, Christopher Winder, Jeremiah Ivey, John Dillard
and Jack Nichols mark a road from Carter's Bluff to intersect a new road to
be approved from Brewster's Bluff to Nacogdoches.
Alterations made by Stephen Allred on the road from Trammel Trace to Grand
Bluff is accepted by the court.
Tuesday, April 11, 1848
The Court took up the subject of dividing the county into five equal districts
according to an Act of the Legislature. Decided that center district should
be laid off to extend from the eastern to western boundary and that the east
and west lines be laid down parallel, and the center of the county should be
equidistant from east and west lines. "The center district shall be one-fifth
the area of the county, and Sabine River shall be the dividing line between
the other four districts."
