Classes cancelled, students have fun
T he university administration canceled classes
for the first time in 67 years. The cancellation
was only the third in school history.
A sudden and fierce winter storm dumped four
inches of snow across Abilene and didn't seem to be
letting up as the morning went by. Both ice and snow
covering the streets made it difficult and dangerous
to travel.
The administration originally decided to keep
classes open. But the weather got worse unexpectedly,
forcing the cancellation.
Althought the decision to cancel classes came a
little late, after 8 a.m. classes had begun, that didn'tstop students from enjoying the free time and the
snow.
Students could be found all over campus taking
advantage of the deep, wet snow. Snowmen popped
up everywhere and snowball fights could be seen in
front of Zellner and Zona Luce.
