by T J Robb a Texan in the
Tereslta Community of Cherokee
County but Robb isnt lost when It
comes to knowing what to do to
put his land back into productivity
Robb with the aid of some large
mechanized equipment is rapidly
establishing cleared areas of
approximately 2170 acres he owns in
the rugged hill country to bermuda
grass big hop clover and possibly
rye grass
Equipment being used for the job
consists of bulldozers and attached
clearing equipment and a brush and
bog plow owned by J C Johnson

bermuda grass sprigger owned by
the Cherokee County Soil Conservation
District of which Robb is a
cooperator
Johnson has been hired by Robb

it and also build a few stock water
ponds with his larger equipment
while he has rented the bermuda
springer from the Cherokee County
SCDHe
He hopes to increase carrying
capacity of the land from its present
capacity of one head to about
every 15 acres on a yeararound
basis to one head to about every
four acres
Thirty acres were planted to bermuda
grass the first year Robb
owned the land and he has been
satisfied with the results to the extent
that he has been planting another
103 acresof common bermuda
grass this yctr and plans to
plant another 200 acres in bermuda
next year
Cost of the fertilizing and sodding
operation is about 1610 an acre
but about G an acre will be returned
to him as a result of his signing

grass sodded and 650 worth of
fertilizer applied to the acre at a
cost to him of about 1010 an acre
Before the land was worked
Robb had 500 pounds of rock sulphate
per acre applied
Stock water is obtained from
springs located on the land but the
Texan is having a pond built by
Johnson on 100 acres of land he
leases nearby
Grade Herefords will run on the
land after the bermuda grass and
