30 ABILENE CHRISTIAN COLLEGE
summer the athletic park purchased last session is being graded and
fenced. A first-class commodious grand stand is being built. For additional
information see the Department of Physical Training. *
Alumni
During the session 1916-'17 an Alumni Association was organized.
It is the purpose of the association to help its Alma Mater in every
way possible. Monday of commencement week will be known as
Alumni Day. At 10 o'clock the organization will have a business meeting,
followed by a banquet in the evening.
Membership is divided into three classes:
Regular membership will be given only to those who have completed
a college course.
Associate membership will be given to any one who has been in
A. C. C. one session.
Honorary membership may be conferred upon any friend of the
school by a recommendation of the regular membership.
The charter members are:
Vincent Sikes, Claude Sikes, Gertie Horn, R. Roy Coons, Stella
Brown, Vernon McCasland, Howard Noles, Lylian Arledge, Mrs. Addie
Gilliland, Eddie Whittemore, Rubye Elliott, Walter W. Sikes, Lorah
Branch and Carl Cannon.
Mission Study Class
Under the leadership of Bro. Freeman, the students organized during
the 1918-'19 session a class for the study of missions, both home
and foreign, with particular emphasis on the study of foreign missions.
This class meets each Monday evening. Student; are urged
to take an active interest in this voluntary study.
Foreign Language Club
To encourage and interest students in foreign languages, either ancient
or modern, and to afford opportunity for wholesome social entertainment,
the Foreign Language Club meets every month when
possible, giving a program in foreign languages of song, dialogue,
poems, plays, etc. During the last year some very pleasant evenings
were thus spent.
Rewards
No student will be eligible to any of these rewards who has not
been taking a regular amount of work in Abilene Christian College
since the first of the school year in which the contest is held.
Scholarship
Owing to difference in the grading of the two classes of students
there will be two scholarships offered-one in the academy and one
in the college-to the student making the highest average grade, deportment
included.
