SESSION OF 1920-'21
WHEN STUDENTS MAY ENTER
The work of each quarter will, as far as possible, be complete within
itself. A student may, therefore, enter at the beginning of any
'quarter and-do the full amount of work for the quarter.
CONDITIONS OF ADMISSION
A first-class academy is maintained for those who are not ready to
enter college. The academy work is outlined on page 74.
All applicants for admission to the College of Arts must satisfy the
following conditions:
1. The applicant must be at least sixteen years of age.
2. The applicant must present a certificate of scholarship to meet
the requirements indicated under "Scholarship Requirements."
3. The applicant must pledge himself not to encourage or participate
in hazing or class rushes during his college course.
4. While we do not yet require it, we urge each applicant to be
vaccinated.
5. The applicant must sign the following pledge with reference
to secret organizations:
Pledge: Upon my honor I certify that I will not join, or allow my
name to be used in connection with any organization, named or unnamed,
not approved by the faculty.
I further affirm that I will not, while a student of Abilene Christian
College, advise others to join, nor will I aid in any way the continuance
of any such organization passing under any name or sign,
written or unwritten, not approved by the faculty.
I further agree in case I should disregard my pledge with reference
to such organizations that all my rights and privileges as a student
will thereby be forfeited.
ENTRANCE UNITS
A unit course of study, as here used, means a course that covers a
school year of, at least, thirty-five weeks with five recitations per week
of not less than forty minutes each.
Of the fifteen units required for admission to the freshman class,
eleven (11) are prescribed as follows: Three (3) units in English,
three (3) in Mathematics, two (2) in a Foreign Language, two (2) in
History, and one (1) in Science.
A table of approved units is given here for the students' benefit.
