DEFINITION OF COURSES
Courses meet either two or three times per week. by "termhour"
is meant one hour's recitation or lecture through a term of
three months. Thus a course meeting three times per week during
one term will be given credit for three "term-hours"; one meeting
three hours per week for the nine months session will receive nine
"term-hours" of credit.
Students finishing the full course must average not lower than B
in all their studies. Those finishing the shorter courses must average
at least B. Any one falling below C in any term is "conditioned"
in that subject, he may take it over or may satisfy certain requirements
and be able in the work of other terms on the course to make
his average above the minimum requirement. A third test will not
be given any student for any course or term.
Those finishing our full course are expected to have completed their
B. A. degree. Those finishing the two-year classical course are expected
to have not less than a Junior College graduate standing. Of
course, special students may take any of our work, as may be approved,
though the above educational requirements apply to the matter
of diplomas.
NOTE.--For other courses in the Bible than those outlined here
see the Department of Bible in the College of Arts and Sciences.
OUTLINES OF COURSES
BIBLE WORK ON COLLEGE DEGREES. It is urged that those
contemplating real and valuable service in the church, and this statement
includes all wide-awake Christians, should take as much of these
courses in the Bible Department as they can count on their College
degree. If they hope for special service, we trust they will take at
least an additional year of work in this field. We want to put out
specialists in English, history, and other departments, but we are
even more anxious that all students go out prepared for a full life of
Christian service, whether it be in home, school, pulpit, mission, field,
or factory.
We shall be glad to have students shape their College courses
from the Freshman year up in such a way that they may take such
of these courses as will best fit them for the work they contemplate
doing in life.
CHRISTIAN WORKERS' COURSE. We offer here a course covering
only forty-eight hours-one year of good work. It is for other
than regular college students. We hope many earnest church-members
will be able to take a year with us for this course. The average
Christian could not better spend a year. There are no charges for
work in the Bible Department. A certificate is given all who finish
as much as forty-eight hours of this work.
