Dr. Allan H. Sager is to be
ordained into the ministry of
The American Lutheran Church
Sunday at 3:30 p. m. at St. John
Lutheran Church Bartlett. His
ordination by his father the
Reverend Gus W. Sager of
Round Rock has been author-
ized by Dr. Vernon A. Mohr
president of the Southern Dis-
trict of the American Lutheran
Church.
Dr. Samuel F. Salzman of
Wartburg Theological Semin-
ary Dubuque Iowa is schedul
ed to preach for the service.
The Reverend Fred L. Bracher
pastor of St. John Lutheran
Church Bartlett will serve as
liturgist and lector.
Sager was born in Boerne
August 29th 1934. He spent his
childhood at Bartlett where he
was confirmed in 1948 and grad-
uated from Bartlett High School
in 1951. Texas Lutheran College
granted him the Bachelor of
Arts DegrtSd in 1955 aftor he
had completed a composite social
science major. He received the
Bachelor of Divinity degree
from Wartburg Theological
Seminary Dubuque Iowa in
1959. During the 1957-1958
school year he interned with
the Youth Dej&rtment of The
American Lutheran Church
Columbus Ohio.
Upon graduating from the
Seminary he received a Luth-
eran Brotherhood scholarship
for graduate study which he be-
gan at Northwestern Univer-
sity Evanston Illinois in the
fall of 1959. In August 1960 he
received the Master of Arts de-
gree and was named a graduate
teaching assistant in the de-

entitled "The Fundamentalist-
Modernist Controversy 1918-
1930 in the History of Ameri-
can Public Address." He was
asked to report on his research
by reading a paper at the na-
tional convention of the Spoern
Association of America held in
Denver August 19-21 1963.
While living in the Chicago
area Dr. Sager also did part-
time teaching at Indiana Uni-
versity Gary Campus and at
the Illinois Institute of Tech-
nolbgy and assisted with pas-
toral activities at Trinity Luth-
eran Church Evanston and
Lake View Lutheran College
Chicago.
Dr. Sager has accepted a call
of the American Lutheran
Church to serve Trinity Luther-
an Church Fort Worth as As-
sociate Pastor. He and his wife
Erline (nee Hohmann) and two
and one-half year old daughter
Denise plan to move to Fort
Worth late in August to begin
work September 1. His installa-
tion by Dr. Mohr is scheduled
for Sunday October 13.
Allan is the second son of the
Reverend and Mrs. Gus W. Sag-
er to enter the ministry. The
older son Wilfred is currently
serving as Regional Youth Di-
rector of the Southern and Cen-
tral Districts of the American
Lutheran Church with offices
in Dallas. Rev. Gus Sager has
served pastorates in Southton
Boerne Bartleett (1939-1951)
and Zion Lutheran Fredericks-
burg (19511959) before serv-
ing as Superintendent of Trin-
ity Lutheran Home for the
(Aged Round Rock since April
of 1959.

CITY OF BARTLETT. TEXAS.
LEVYING TAXES FOR THE
YEAR 1963 ON ALL PROPER
TY WITHIN' SAID CITY OF
BARTLETT. AND PROVID-
ING FOR THE COLLECTION
THEREOF AND PROVIDING
A PENALTY FOR THE FAIL-
URE TO PAY SAME WHEN
DUE AND DECLARING AN
EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF BARTLETT TEXAS:
Sec. 1. That to pay the gen-
eral expenses of the City of
Bartlett for the current year
there is here now levied and
shall be collected for the year
1963 a tax of 78 cents on the
one hundred dollars valuation
of all property within the City
of Bartlett Texas;
Sec. 2. That to grade work
and improve the streets of the
said City of Bartlett for the
year 1963 there is here now
levied and shall be collected
for the year 1963 a tax of 17
cents on the one hundred dol
Ian valuation of all property
within the said City of Bartlett
Texas ;
Sec. 3. That to pay the cost
of upkeep and maintenance of
the City Cemetery there is.

rax of 05 cents on the one hun-

of Bartlett Texas;
Sec. 4. That all taxes levie"d
shall become due and payable
and shall be payable to the

and in the event that any of
said taxes shall remain unpaid
after January 31st. 1964 there
shall be added thereto a grad-
uated penalty as follows: For
the month of February 1 per
centum for the month of
March 2 per centum for the
month of April 3 per centum
for the month of May 4 per
centum for the month of June
5 per centum and for the
month of July and later 8 per
centum which said penalties
shall be collected with said
taxes and placed in the respect-
ive funds to which said taxes
belong with six per centum
interest per annum thereof
from and after July 1st. 1964;
Sec. 5. That the nearness of
the time which taxes shall be
come due and tq be collected
leaving only a short time for
the preparation of the tax
rolls creates an emergency
and the council so declares
making it necessary that the
rule of this Council requiring
ordinances to be read at)
three several meetings of the
Council be suspended and such
rule is hereby suspended and
this ordinance shall take ef
fect immediately Upon its pas
sage by the Council approval
by the Mayor and publication
as required by jaw.

of the City Council of said City
of Bartlett Texas held on the
19th. day of August A. D.
1963.
