74TH DISTRICT COURT
MoLENNAN COUNTY COURTHOUSE
WACO, TEXAS 76701
LILLIAN BRUCE MCDONALD
January 8, 1985 OFFICIAL COURT REPORTER
DERWOOD JOHNSON, JUDGE
Mrs. 0. R. Jenson, Coordinator
Bosque County History Book Committee
1307 Park Street
Clifton, Texas, 76634
Dear Mrs. Jenson:
I want to congratulate you and the members of the Bosque
County History Book Committee for accepting the challenge to
publish this book, which constitutes a major addition to the
recorded history of the county.
The pioneers who secured the Bosque frontier and built
this county deserve to be remembered and to have their sacri-
fices and heroic deeds recorded. You have performed a signi-
ficant historical and public service in completing this pub-
lication. You have not only preserved much of the unique
and interesting history of the county, but you have also
provided a vehicle for the preservation of Bosque County
family histories which otherwise may have been lost to future
generations. You can take a great deal of satisfaction in
these accomplishments.
Having been born in Cranfills Gap, I am proud to claim
the right to call myself a Bosque County native and I am
pleased to be a contributor to the family history section
in the pages that follow. I know that I can speak in behalf
of all present and former residents of Bosque County in ex-
tending congratulations to you and in expressing appreciation
for the countless hours which you have spent in organizing,
promoting, compiling and editing this treasured volume.
This publication is timed appropriately for distribution
and use in connection with the Texas Sesquicentennial in 1986.
The entire county can be proud of this contribution to the ob-
servance of the 150th anniversary of Texas' independence.
Sincerely yours,

Derwood Jo son
