bride is doing student teaching.
She will receive her degree in
Elementary Education from

Cartwright
Vows Repeated
Miss Kathryn Ann Cartwright
and Birl R. Watkins, Jr. were
united in marriage Saturday,
August 23, at the home of the
groom’s mother. The Rev. W.
F. Haynie, retired, performed
the single ring ceremony in the
presence of family and friends.
The bride wore a floor-length
dress of light green with blue
and white flowers.
Mrs. Watkins is the daughter
of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Cart-
wright of Sidney, Nebraska. Mr.
Watkins is the son of Birl
Watkins. Sr. of Lake Dallas and
Mrs. R. A. Sellers of Garland.
His grandparents are Mrs. Tom
Watkins of Cooper, and Mr. and
Mrs. L. A. McCormack, Sr. of
Paris, formerly of Cooper. Mrs.
Etta Baker of Cooper, is his
great grandmother.
Mr. and Mrs. James Roling,
Irving, spent the weekend with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. P.
Roling, Lake Creek.

The Youth Class of Antioch
Baptist entertained recently at
the home of their teacher, Mrs,
Mickey Brae keen.

Mr. and Mrs. Dan Watkins,
Soper, Okla., visited Mr. and
Mrs. Amos Iglehart last week-

Nev., is visiting her sister and
husband, Mr. and Mrs. Jim

Community Center News
Fifteen members, including a
new member, were present for
the Friday night supper meeting
at the Community Center. Some
of the men played 42 while
others visited. Hostesses were
Mrs. Estil Robnett and Mrs.
Orville Brooks.
Mrs. Ella Robertson and Mrs.
Mildred Heflin attended the
Nelson family reunion in Sey-
mour recently.
Mrs. Dudley Robnett and
Mrs. Velma Chesnut visited
their sister. Mrs. Billie Mann-
ing, and family in Irving
Sunday. Mrs. Allen Martin,
Lynda, Susan and Andy, Com-
merce, visited in the Robnett
home here Sunday afternoon.

Cooper Manor were honored at
a f»ll get-together luncheon last
Thursday at Cooper Manor.
Sandi Smith, Social Director,
welcomed the Lady bugs and
their guests for the event, and
gave an explanation of the vol-
unteer program.
The tables were decorated in
the Bicentennial theme.
Attending the luncheon were

Nadine Wheeler, Lois Mosley,
Lola Fowler, Grace Hendrix,
Avis Whitlock, Gladys Doss,
Ruth Glanville, Elizabeth Mc-

Upcoming events were dis-
cussed and dates set for many
of the fall activities.
A senior citizen fall trip is
planned for Tuesday, September
30, which will include a sight-
seeing tour and picnic at Char-
leston. The ladies of the Char-
leston Community Center will
furnish drinks and desert for
the lunch. The bus will pick up
residents from Cooper Manor
at 9:45 a.m. Other persons
wishing to go on the trip should
