[Digging for Cover]

[U.S. Soldiers at the International Bridge]

Description: Photograph of a group of U.S. soldiers at the El Paso International Bridge on the U.S. side in 1916, preparing to go elsewhere. Each soldier has their rifle, a backpack, canteen, ammunition, and a distinct belt with pouches to hold items in. Among the many duties assigned, guarding the international bridges was a high priority at the time. An early twentieth century bicycle can be seen next to a cluster of soldiers, leaning up against a beam.
