Certificate of naturalization given to Helvig Jensen Berndt by the United States Department of Commerce and Labor. A black and white illustration of an eagle emblem is at the very top, flanked by the title of the document. The text on the page gives the names of Helvig's children and wife as well as a short physical description of Helvig. There is hand-written text on the back of the document which reads, "H. J. Berndt is U. S. Citizen since May 4, 1908."

Certificate of progress document given to Jillie Jensen from a Danevang public school. There is a decorative border surrounding the paper. Beneath an illustration of a hand holding a quill pen, the text reads: "This Certifies that Lillie Jensen has done good work in Penmanship in the third grade of Danevang Public Schools and has made notable progress in keeping correct position, using proper movement and doing legible writing in all written work." The name of the school, teacher, and principal follows, plus the date.

Christian and Katrine Nissen
A postcard and photograph of the Nissen family and their home, respectively, held together by a sticker which reads, "Chv. Nissen (Both)." Christian and Katrine Nissen, husband and wife, are presumably pictured in the postcard, but names, although provided, were not matched to individuals. There are several women, men, and children on the postcard. They are in front of a single-story structure with intersecting gable roofs, on a dirt ground with no visible trees or plants. In the photograph, a two-story home with horizontal siding stands amidst several bushes and trees. Intersecting gable roofs cover the second story. A mansard roof further down creates a second-story balcony bordered by railing. This same roof projects outwardly as an overhang supported by four pillars. Hand-written text on the back of the photograph reads, "This home and 80 acres of land was sold. The money sent to Ebenezer Home, Brush, Colorado. The home of Christian and Katrine Nissen (south of the Carl Thyssen home). Aunt Katrine lived there until her death 1/23/53. This was their 2nd home." There is additional text but it cannot be read with certainty.

Illustrated Christmas card from Harold and Myrtle Strobel. The front page has an image of Santa Claus holding a bag of gifts. A clock with adorned mistletoes is to the right. The text reads, "It's time for these Good Wishes." When opened, the card shows an image of Santa shooting a rifle at the clock. Alice is seated at it as she lays her hands on the keys and looks slightly to the right at the camera. She wears a light-colored jacket with dark trim accents and glasses. Her husband, Pastor John, stands behind her on the right wearing a two-piece suit. Finally, Gordon, next to Alice on the left, has his hands behind his back and wears a collar shirt and dark, belted pants. The back of the card bears a second image. Church 1945 Storm
Photograph of the Danevang Lutheran Church after a hurricane. A paved step, a window and a door, which make up part of the front facade of the building, are still standing. The rest of the church has suffered considerable damage. Various construction materials - walls, siding, shingles, etc. - surround the standing structure. There is a small tree off to the left. [Church Exterior and Cemetery]
Photograph of an unspecified church exterior surrounded by a cemetery. A number of tombstones of different designs have been dispersed all along the left side of the church complex. To the right, there is an adjacent building smaller in size that seems to be closest to the street. The church itself lies on a central axis. A tapering pyramidal structure incorporated to the entrance has a four-sided opening that reveals what appears to be an enclosure for a church bell. Gold text embossed on the front of the photograph reads, "Patsy". The back of the photograph bares a golden sticker listing information about the photographer.
Church Monument - 1976
Photograph of granite monument in front of the Danevang Lutheran Church. The church has white siding and dark-colored roofing. A bell tower rises over the entrance, where the actual bell has been placed in an alcove underneath the shingled roofing of the tapering steeple. The granite monument, according to accompanying information, was erected in 1976 to commemorate historical events in Danevang. A paved walkway leads up to both the church and the monument, and both have small bushes flanking their sides. Additionally, the church has a railing and an inclined step.
Church Parsonage
Photograph of a single-story building identified as a church parsonage. Taken a few yards from the entrance, the foreground shows well-trimmed short grasses and a few trees bordering the perimeter of the structure. Window and doors have been finished with a green trim. The garage door on the right side has been painted green as well. Underneath a shaded area in the rightmost side of the picture is a parked automobile.

Danevang Folks on Boat Ride
Copy negative of citizens of Danevang taking a boat ride in Palacios Bay, Texas. The image was taken from the dock as the boat is taking off. People on the boat are leaning out the windows to look at the camera. One boy is sitting atop the roof of the vessel and clutching his hat in his hand. Several other children are leaning on the railing of the boat and dipping their toes in the water. The bank of the river and several buildings onshore can be seen behind the boat, as well as a bridge that extends past the picture plane.
Danevang Historical Marker
Photograph of a commemorative historical marker on a dirt plot of land that has been tilled. In the background, there appears to be a church, judging by the spire structure that sits on top of the roof, and the hollow space just beneath it that seems to hold a church bell. This structure is bordered by a small line of bushes. The text of the marker reads: "Danevang ('Danish Meadow') The first successful Danish community in Texas. Established in 1894 on a portion of 25,000 acres secured through option by Danish Folk Society from Texas Land and Cattle Company. Most immigrants came first to the northern United States, where other Danes had settled, and then to Texas, desiring to preserve their national culture, language, and religion. A Lutheran church was erected in 1895. Hardships included disease, insects, poorly drained land, and primitive transportation; but hard work, farming ability, and cooperation brought success.
