Written on the back is the notation, "Havana, Cuba, Nov. 2, 1906. George V. Huffmon, Co. B, Hospital Corps, USA; Camp Columbia, Havana, Cuba. A bad picture." Added additional information by staff: Sgt. Huffmon enlisted in the Army on January 25, 1906. Camp Columbia was the headquarters or base camp and was located just west of Havana. The U.S. Medical Corps at that time period made great attempts to improve sanitation, drinking water, and combat disease and epidemics such as smallpox, yellow fever, and malaria.
