[Art Forum Pressbook, 1938-1939]
Scrapbook that documents art events over the year with emphasis on local events and those of the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs Sixth District of which Abilene, Texas, was a part. This scrapbook won first place at the Sixth District Convention. Included are 49 pages of prints purchased from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and made available for ten cents a piece by the American Committee for Art Appreciation. The brochure includes a history of the different painters. These prints were exhibited at the Abilene Chamber of Commerce and at the Abilene Women's Club.

This pressbook starts with a membership certificate to the Art Unit. Clippings and other documents during this year include minutes and information on the organization of the Abilene Fine Arts Museum and a copy of the constitution for the Fine Arts Association, including the by-laws, and financial records from 1939 to 1956. A collection listing from 1937 to 1957 of the art works purchased or donated to the museum and the prices paid is also in the book. The book also contains draft history of the Fine Arts Museum from 1937 to 1957 and a membership list of the Fine Arts Association and its charter members.

Scrapbook containing records relating to the Frances B. Fisk Student Art Loan Fund and the Penny Art Fund. The Penny Art Fund was a fundraiser for art started by the General Federation of Women's Clubs in 1930 and adopted by Texas in 1933. Each club member donated one penny, which the Federation used to buy original art that was to be given to state clubs as prizes for outstanding work in promotion of art. The Fiske Student Loan Fund was a program sponsored by the Sixth District of the Texas Federation of Women's Clubs (including Abilene) and contributions were initially used to sponsor students from West Texas to the Art Institute of Chicago.
