Flood Protection Plan: Phase 2
"The purpose of this study was to expand on the Phase I City of Brownsville Flood Study that was developed in 2006 to expand the study area to include two additional Brownsville watersheds in the Northwest quadrant of the City and to create a linked watershed model to allow for the investigation of inter watershed transfers of storm-water flow between the watershed studied in 2006. This study analyzes several of the gaps identified in the 2006 Flood Study by 1) developing baseline models to assess existing flooding risks in the Resaca del Rancho Viejo (RRV) and Cameron County Drainage District No.1 Ditch No.3 (CCDD#) watersheds; 2) examining the impact of storm surge on each watershed; and 30 linking the hydraulic models for those watershed that are hydraulically linked. This study, like the 2006 study, is meant for planning use only and should not be used for engineering design purposes" (p. ii). texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth415083/

Instream flow-habitat relationships in the Nueces River Basin
Final report related to the Nueces River and Corpus Christi and Baffin Bays Basin and Bay Expert Science Team (NUECES BBEST) program. "This report documents the data collection and analysis performed to develop predictive relationships that describe the response in-stream available habitat over a range of flows. These relationships can be used to evaluate the flows that may be recommended by the BBEST as part of their charge under Senate Bill 3. The approach taken in this study employs a well establish methodology whereby site specific physical habitat data is collected at river cross sections and used to produce a one-dimensional physical habitat model. Species specific habitat suitability criteria were applied to the results of the physical habitat model to estimate the weighted usable area for each species over a range of flows at all cross sections" (p. 1). texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth415072/

"This study is focused on the determination of habitat parameters influencing distributions of Golden Orb (Q.aurea) mussels in the Guadalupe-San Antonio river basin. The objectives of this study can be summarized by the following task: 1) Identify four samples with sufficient populations of Q.aurea to evaluate habitat parameters. 2) Evaluate the distribution of Q.aurea at selected sample sites in relation to habitat parameters and monitor flow conditions at these locations. 3) Calculate the shear stress ratio (RSS) for multiple flow conditions and the relationship with mussel density at selected sites. 4) Compile and summarize life history information for Q.aurea and related species." texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth415064/

Continuous flow seawater RO system for recovery of silica-saturated RO concentrate
"The scope of work for this project included four major tasks. Task 1 required designing and building a continuous-flow seawater reverse osmosis (SWRO) concentrate recovery system in the form of a small, pilot system. Task 2 involved operating the SWRO system and analyzing water samples at various recoveries (beginning at 70 %), and raising the recovery in approximately 5% increments until membrane fouling occurred. Task 3 included analyzing the data and evaluating system performance and cost effectiveness. Finally, Task 4 called for preparing quarterly, draft and final reports to the funding agencies." texashistory.unt.edu/ark:/67531/metapth415049/
