Automatic Repeating Railroad-Signal.
Patent for an automatic repeating railroad-signal designed to be used with semaphore and other train-signaling apparatus. It eliminates mistakes made in notifying the central office and automatically reports "any change in the position or color of the signal to a central office over the ordinary telegraph-wire" (lines 14-16). The signal is a wheel that operates a key to send a message to the central office.
Change-Maker.
Patent for "improvements in money-drawers which are designed to separate the coin placed therein according to the various denominations, and at the same time providing means whereby change may be readily had" (lines 8-13) with instructions and illustrations.
Car Coupling.
Patent for a new and improved design for freight car coupling. This design calls for a sliding block, with the assistance of metal pins, to lock the link between two freight cars firmly in place. This eliminates the possibility of accidental disconnect.
Bench Clamp.
Patent for a new and improved bench clamp. This design, "[b]eing made of iron or other suitable material . . . is strong, durable, and inexpensive. It requires no bolts or screws to secure it to the work-bench or other object where its use may be required, and can be put in position and removed easily and quickly. It occupies but little room on account of its compactness, and can be applied to any piece of work without marring it" (lines 72-80).
Locomotive-Headlight.
Patent for a three-way locomotive-headlight with easily removable screens of different colors in order to send signals. The screens are easily fitted to other locomotive headlights. This invention is meant to prevent accidents that happen without proper signaling.
Mold and Mold Hoisting Apparatus for Building Concrete Walls.
Patent for a new and improved apparatus for hoisting concrete. This design consists in "[t]he combination of shaft, drum, rope, and bar with the mold formed of [the] plank and with [the] frame . . . [t]he planks of the mold, made with rabbeted ends and provided with clamps . . . [and] [t]he combination of angle-pieces, bars, and clamping-screws with the mold-planks . . . [and] [t]he combination, with the planks of a concrete-mold having beveled ends, of angle-pieces, also having beveled-ends, and provided with screws for clamping the plank" (lines 71-83).
Ticket Reel.
Patent for a new and improved ticket reel. This design, "which is filled with the ticket-strip, is mounted upon an angular shaft moving with the reel; said shaft being provided with a journal at or near one end, said journal having bearing in a standard or bracket rigid upon a base piece or plate adapted to be bolted or screwed to a table or desk. . . . [A]lso, to mount upon the end of the shaft immediately outside the bracket or standard a ratchet-wheel, and to pivot upon the bracket a spring-pressed pawl engaging said ratchet, and to combine with the ticket-reel a suitable friction-spring" (lines 16-28).
Padlock.
Patent for a new and improved padlock. This design "relates . . . more particularly to those padlocks which are used for locking railway-switches . . . [T]he invention consists in a padlock comprising a bow, or hasp, or shackle, a spring-bolt for engaging the same, tumblers, and a lever connecting the tumblers and bolt, a locking device for the tumblers, and an audible alarm, such as a bell" (lines 9-25).
Paper-Folder.
Patent for a rotary paper folder meant to fold newspapers as they come from the press in a web. The invention is simple, and cuts the paper into sheets of the desired length. Its folding attachment folds the paper in parallel columns, and the knives do not move in relation to the cylinders.
Trolley Cut-Out.
Patent for "a new and improved cut-out designed for use on trolley-wires, electric light and power wires, and telegraph wires, the cut-out being arranged to reduce the danger from such wires incident to the breaking of the live wires." (Lines 7-12) Includes instructions and illustrations.
Feed Water Heater.
Patent for a new and improved water-heater. This design consists in "the combination of the supply-pipe, the supply-tank into which said pipe discharges, the said tank having a perforated bottom through which the water percolates, the vertically-divided cylinder forming the annular heating-chamber, the scatter-plates alternatingly located in diverse directions in said chamber, the said plates arranged to spray the water while heating as it falls from plate to plate, and the exhaust-steam pipe that discharges through an open port near the base of said annular heating-chamber" (lines 19-31).
Fire-Escape
Patent for "a fire-escape and observation-tower, which may be raised or extended at any point, or be lowered and compactly folded for transportation" (lines 7-10).
Spring Bed Bottom.
Patent for a new and improved box-spring. This design consists in "[a] main frame having slats and springs and a metallic frame encircling said springs, in combination with the curved brace-springs having the coils and loops pressing on top of the slats, said springs being secured to the slats and metallic frame, and the rods secured to said frame and passing through the ends of the slats" (lines 76-83).
Refrigerating Apparatus.
Patent for a refrigerator that cools things "with the minimum expense for refrigerants; also, for affording ready access to the refrigerated substances" (lines 19-21). The cabinet has an outer layer, an inner layer, and a cooling layer. Ice is used to achieve lower temperatures.
Telephone-Transmitter

Patent for a new and improved door check. This design "consists in providing the door with a sliding rod, which is adapted to be actuated so as to engage with a retaining-block attached to the floor by the knob-shank, which is provided with a dog for raising and lowering the rod" (lines 17-22).

Patent for "a commode which may be placed in a bed-room or other suitable place in a house without .danger to occupants on account of disease which would be superinduced by the presence of impure odors, as would be the case where an ordinary receptacle is used" and where the solid and liquid waste would be separated (lines 26-36).
Easel
Patent for an easel that has a sliding picture-rest, which is has a "clutch mechanism for holding the sliding rest at any desired elevation" (lines 11-14).
