Baling-Press.
Patent for a baling-press meant to bale cotton. In this machine, "the power as applied to the plunger is increased in proportion to the resistance offered by the material being baled and whereby the forward movement of the plunger is automatically checked at the limit of its path and is returned to its initial positioin without effort upon the part of the operator" (lines 10-17).
Bit for Well-Drilling Apparatus.
Patent for an expansion bit for a well-drilling apparatus that can be "adjusted and removed without without withdrawing the well tubing, and to provide means whereby a bit capable of drilling a hole sufficiently larger than the well tubing to accommodate a casing may be introduced through the tubing" (lines 11-16).

Car Coupling.
Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design relates "especially to that class known as 'gravity-pin supports;' and the object thereof is to provide improved means for supporting the pin so that it can be operated from the top of the car, or so that it will drop automatically when two cars come together" (lines 9-14). It consists, "with the coupling-pin and a supporting-arm pivotally connected to the draw-head and to the upper end of said pin, of a weight carried by said arm, and means . . . for supporting said weight and for tripping it" (lines 6-12).

Patent for improvements in car-couplings by using a combination of “a rod pivoted at its front end to the side of the draw-head and pivotally connected at its rear end..... when the draw-head is driven to the rear by the force of the blow received in coupling with another draw-head, the lug will be pressed to the front,” (lines 30-40) illustration is included.

Patent for improvements in clevises in which a clevis can be used upon plows or harrows. Patent for a wagon-bed elevator that "is to provide an elevator for wagon-beds by means of which a single person can raise the bed from the wagon to any desired height and leave it suspended in position where it can be readily lowered upon the wagon again at any time" (p. 2).
Well-Drilling Apparatus.
Patent for an improved, simple, and efficient well sinking or drilling mechanism, especially meant for bit-securing devices, and the drill bits can be easily removed without removing the well tubing from the hole. The inventor uses "a stem or core carrying the drill bit and adapted to fit snugly in the bore of the tubing, together with a simple combination of devices whereby such stem or core can be locked against longitudinal and rotary movement by the manipulation of an operating rod which extends to the top of the well" (lines 16-22).
Well-Drilling Apparatus.
Patent for an Artesian or oil well drilling apparatus that has a detachable drill-bit in its tubing and has an "improved means whereby an expansion drill bit or blade of any preferred construction can be secured to or detached from the drill tubing without removing the latter from the well" (lines 12-15). The tubing does not accidentally detach, and the tubing can rotate in either direction.

Patent for a well-drilling apparatus that easily attaches drill-bits to the ends of drill-tubes without removing the tubes from the well. It is meant for Artesian well-boring machines.

Patent for a well-drilling apparatus meant "to provide improved means for adjusting and withdrawing drill-tools without removing the drill-rod to provide a folding reamer and means for adjusting the blades thereof, and to provide means for conveying water to the drill, whereby the drillings are carried up outside of the drill-rod or barrel" (lines 9-16).
Well-Drilling Apparatus.
Patent for a well-drilling apparatus for boring Artesian and other wells. It is meant to "provide simple, efficient, and durable means for expanding or spreading the reamer-blades after the bit-carrying devices have been lowered sufficiently to arrange the reamer-blades below the plane of the lower end of the tubular drill-rod" (lines 10-17). Water pressure is also used to remove the cuttings from the boring-blades. Sections of cable that suspend and lower drill-bit carrying parts into the drill-rod are supported, and sections of drill-rod can be attached and added to the drill-rod. The method of securing the reamer-blades to the reamer-stock is improved with this patent. The parts fit snugly together and prevent water from getting into the drill-rod.
Trap.
Patent for "a trap of the character mentioned simple and efficient means for closing the entrance thereof, whereby an animal or fowl passing therethrough shall be prevented returning, and thus be held in the trap, and, further, to so construct such means as to permit the door of the trap remaining in an open position except when the animal or fowl attempts to pass out through the same, thereby affording a free passage to the interior of the trap and presenting and inducement for other animals or fowls to enter."
