An air-blast mechanism is also an ineffective method of cleaning lint-cotton from the saws. The air-suction mechanism sucks "the lint-cotton directly from the rear portions of the saw-teeth independently of and without a brush, and an apparatus for preventing the withdrawn lint-cotton from passing into and through the air-suction apparatus" (lines 84-89).
