Photograph of the Plainview & Lubbock stagecoach being pulled by mules. There are four passengers seated inside the stagecoach. Handwritten on the back of the photograph is, "The stage coach as pictured was taken in Lubbock in 1907, just 30 years ago last Agust. The picture was taken on Sunday, when the mail did not run. Mr W.M. Crawford, driver was owner of the stage. The time to make the trip from Lubbock to Plainview a distance of approximately 45 miles, was a whole day. The schedule of the mail left Lubbock at sun-up arriving in Plainview after dark. The mules were changed at a point half-way and fresh livery carried the mail the remainder of the trip. The next day the journey was southward toward Lubbock, every two days a coach made the trip north to Plainview. About 2 years after the picture was made, another coach was added and daily service was given."
