[Letter from R. L. Landers to Charles B. Moore, March 3, 1891]

Description: Letter from R. L. Landers to Charles More in which Mr. Laners lists their mutual friends and reports on who is still living and who is deceased. He discusses his own family and their recent baby. He also writes about the scarcity of game "down on Sabina['s] old place." Mr. Landers served as the sheriff and later as a Justice of the Peace in Arkansas. He states that he wished he had joined Charles Moore in Texas. The weather, crop production and price, and sale of hogs and cattle are detailed.

[Letter from Birdie and Dinkie McGee to Mary, Linnet, and Charles B. Moore, March 10,1893]

Description: Letter from Birdie McGee to her cousin Linnet detailed Birdie and her grandmother's shared birthday celebration. The letter from Dinkie McGee to Mary and Charles Moore gave details on the health of several members of the family; the weather; the cost of crops; and the cutting of carpet rags. Included is a note saying that pieces of Birdie's dresses would be included. The smaller pieces are from Birdie's dress and the larger piece from a dress for Dinkie.

Linen petticoat

Description: Petticoat of off-white linen. Full-length, with plain waistband with drawstring waist. Gathered into waist at sides and back, flat at front. Near Above hem are 4 horizontal pin-tucks. Below pin-tucks is wide added flounce of same material with embroidered hem with triangular "points". Embroidered initials at center front: "NHE" Described as a trousseau petticoat.

Wedding shoes

Description: Wedding shoes of off-white or champagne satin. The shoes have rounded toes, and no ornamentation. The medium-high heel is set under, is rounded at back and sides and curved at front, tapers to center and then swells to base, and is covered with matching satin; it has the same natural brown colored leather on the heel's cap and on the soles of the shoes. Glass Axe

Description: Clear glass axe or hatchet, made at the Libbey Glass Company display as a souvenir of the 1893 Chicago World's Columbian Exposition. One side of blade with relief inscription "World's Fair / 1893"; other side of blade with relief portrait of George Washington, and inscription "The Father Of His Country". Handle with relief inscription near base: "Libbey Glass Co / Toledo, Ohio."

[Chaney Family]

Description: Photograph of the Chaney family of Longview, Texas. Mr. Robert R. Chaney and Mrs. Mary Ellen Johnson Chaney are pictured with three of their unidentified children. The family moved from Longview to Lometa, Texas some time between 1900-1910, but later moved their family of nine children back to Longview.
