Jesus Abundio Cobos

Description: Paper written by Robert Blanco for a history class at Marfa High School in 1966. It is about Jesus Abundio Cobos, a man who lived in Alpine, Texas. Jesus made a living fencing ranches, making dams for ranchers, and hauling supplies from the railroad to the Shafter mines. His wife was Martina Franco and they had 10 sons and 4 daughters.

Alpine, The Last Frontier Land

Description: Research paper written by Delia Jurado about the history of Alpine, Texas. The paper covers Alpine from the time it was formed in 1882 as Murphyville until the 1930s. Also covered are the history of Sul Ross State University and its namesake, Lawrence Sullivan Ross. This paper was written in 1971 as a research project for a class at Marfa High School.
