Carswell explains his delay in writing, due to flu, and expresses his enjoyment in having seen them when in Washington, of seeing Earl and his family and meeting their friend, Mrs. Ginn.

Yachting ensemble

Description: Yachting costume of blue and white cotton; three pieces: a) Jacket of blue cotton with white lining, no closure. b) Blouse of white cotton with asymmetrical red stripe from left shoulder to right hip, v-neck, star and stripe accents on red stripe. c) Culottes of blue cotton. Street length. Flapped opening is trimmed with three nonfunctioning brass buttons on each side of flap with closure of hook & eyes and snaps. Button pinned to tag of gold, stamped with braiding and anchor motif.

"Dhoti" ensemble

Description: Two-piece at-home ensemble of red nylon jersey. a) Skirt/harem pants in long panel which fastens around waist band, passes between legs from front, and is fastened around waist to tie in front. b) Fitted blouse. Hip length; cap sleeves with rectangular underarm gussets. Five graduated V-pleats down center front and back neckline.

Description: Evening dress of ecru, brown and orange rayon satin with a leaf and flower motif. Full length; sleeveless. Neckline is slightly squared in front and drops to deep cowl in back. Draped shoulders form ties/sash around to center back waist and pass through slit and over cowl to drop down center back.
