Description: Patent for a simple and effective attachment for penholders. It is "readily and easily attached to a penholder, and which is adapted to protect the fingers of the hand and prevent them from coming in contact with the pen or with the inked portion of the holder" (lines 15-19).

Description: Patent for a new and improved chair. This design consists "[i]n a reading and writing attachment for chairs, the combination of a bail-shaped clamp adapted to be applied to a chair-arm, an upright slotted arm, a set-screw passing through said slotted arm and engaging the clamp, a plate carried by the upper end of said slotted arm, and a table pivotally connected to said plate, whereby the table may be adjusted vertically, horizontally, and obliquely" (lines 66-75).

Type-Writing Machine

Description: Patent for improvements to typewriting machines with the aim of providing "a machine of simple and durable construction, capable of use for the ordinary purposes to which type-writers are applied, but especially adapted and designed for typewriting upon blank books, thereby facilitating the making of official records and producing records that are more legible and compact than it is possible to obtain by handwriting" (lines 11-18).

Penholder.

Description: Patent for a penholder that is worn on the finger and is an "open-ended hollow thimble with a detachable and reversible cap-piece" (lines 20-22). The pen-point can be unscrewed and screwed back in the opposite way so that the pen-point is inside the thimble, so the pen-point doesn't break in one's pocket.
