Description: Brown velvet pillbox cocktail hat. The low, circular crown of the hat is slightly domed. At front of hat is pinned a large 3-dimensional pear-shaped openwork jeweled ornament of gold wire set with various colors and shapes of stones. Inside of hat lined in black cloth. Around inside lower edge of crown is brown grosgrain ribbon band. Designer's label sewn to inner ribbon band: "Eisa".

Description: Newsletter dated August 27, 1846 with a letter from Vicar Pfanner. The newsletter has requested the truth about the settlement in Texas. He states that it is a beautiful country, but hot and dry and while some crops do well, people fare poorly because of fevers. He claims that the population of Texas is drawn from the dregs of humanity. He recommends that people not consider settling in Texas. The letter and other articles are translated into German.

Description: Interview with Glenn E. McDuffie, an Armed Guard in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He discusses lying about his age in order to join the navy at 15 and his experience in boot camp. He served as an Armed Guard on merchant ships that transported supplies across the Atlantic and remembers being in London while German bombers flew overhead.
