[LeTourneau Industries]

Description: Photograph of one of the large bulldozers designed and built by Robert G. LeTourneau of Longview, Texas. LeTourneau designed and built machinery on such a large scale that his machinery was used all over the world in large projects, such as clearing land for building dams, airports and heavy offshore oil rigs. LeTourneau was a pioneer in his field, holding almost 300 patents for inventions. In the photograph, the bulldozer is parked next to an automobile.

Tree Roller No. 2

Description: Photograph of LeTourneau's Tree Roller No. 2. (A very similar photo is thus described in "R.G. LeTourneau Heavy Equipment: The Electric Drive Era," by Eric Orlemann. After being field tested in Longview, Texas, this unit was shipped to Tournavista, Peru, to be used in land clearing projects there for the LeTourneau Foundation mission. The overall weight of the tree roller was about 100 tons.

Description: Photograph of the Model TC-497 Overland Train Mkii, the largest and most powerful of all the "land trains" produced by LeTourneau. The TC-497 was built for the U.S. Army to transport cargo in the Arctic under a wide variety of road conditions, according to author Eric Orlemann. It contained nine cargo trailers, a control car and two trailing power units. The TC-497 weighed 135 tons. Its overall length was about 527 feet.

[LeTourneau Tournapull]

Description: Photograph of the LeTourneau Industries Tournapull, a massive piece of machinery designed and built by Robert G. LeTourneau of Longview, Texas. The machine was used to clear land for massive projects. This Tournapull was used to aid in the Hansen Dam project in San Fernando, California. LeTourneau used thirteen Tournapulls, a fleet of Carryalls and many bulldozers for this project. The LeTourneau crane is visible in the background of the photo, to the left of the Tournapull.
