Description

Early edition of Heidi by Johanna Spyri. The cover of the book is a detailed illustration. In the sky is the title of the book. In the foreground are some goats along with Heidi holding a small bouquet of flowers on a mountain. Beyond her is another boy with a hiking stick in one hand and a tree branch in the other. Beyond them are more mountains with trees. They are all standing in a field of grass and flowers. On the interior cover of the book is an extended version of the cover illustration with more mountains, trees, clouds, a fence, and a town at the bottom of the mountain. Inside the book are both black and white and colored illustrations. The black and white illustration is of three people, Heidi and two other women standing in a sitting room. The colored image is of Heidi and her grandfather sitting in the pews with other people in a church singing hymns.
