Preregistration is required for the reception and for those wishing to take
a bus to the Institute. Attendees at the meeting may provide their own
transportation to the Institute, but preregistration for the party is
necessary.
Friday evening after the banquet, the program committee has ar-
ranged for a showing of Martyrs of the A lamo, the oldest surviving film
dramatizing the fall of the Alamo. Directed by D. L. W. Griffith, this
1915 movie was a companion piece to his Birth of a Nation.
Spring is a busy tourist season for San Antonio. We recommend that
you make hotel reservations early. Hotel El Tropicano will serve as our
meeting headquarters.
The meeting is filled with activity, much of it involving the use of
buses. For that reason we urge you to preregister so that we will be
able to better serve you.
The Texas Association of Museums will hold its annual meeting in
El Paso, January 31 through February 3, 1979. El Paso Holiday Inn,
Downtown, will serve as meeting headquarters.

The University of Texas at Austin is now home for a copy of the
Gutenberg Bible. The Gutenberg, stated the New York Times, is "an
unmatched masterpiece, the finest example of printing ever produced."
The University's copy was purchased from the Carl and Lilly Pforz-
heimer Foundation, Inc., of New York for $2,400,000. The work, bound
in two volumes, is one of only twenty extant complete copies.
Spanish efforts in the American Revolution are not so well known
as are those of the French, but United States Representative Henry B.
Gonzales recently sponsored a House resolution honoring Bernardo de
Galvez, a Spanish military hero who fought in the war against the
British. The Spanish provided supplies and 3,000 men from the grena-
dier corps, an elite group of Spanish soldiers. Galvez is best remembered
in the American Revolution for his part in the capture of the British
fort at Pensacola.
