Webb reasons that by the time we have completed thirty or more lec-
turers ahead of John Hope Franklin, the social climate in Austin, Texas
(in the early sixties) will more likely allow a man as black and as il-
lustrious as Professor Franklin to receive the courtesy and respect to
which he is entitled.
