Conference, March 15-17, 199ggo. Eleven papers will be presented on
the theme "Graphic Arts and the South." This prestigious conference,
which was hosted by the Association in Austin in 1988, annually attracts
many historians, art historians, librarians, curators, collectors, and
dealers from around the country. In 1990 the conference will concen-
trate on prints, photographs, illustrations, and drawings relating to
southern history. For more information contact Judy L. Larson, cura-
tor of American art, High Museum of Art, 1280 Peachtree Street, N.E.,
Atlanta, Georgia 30309; 404/881-o452.
John Crain, chairman of the program committee for the 1991 annual
meeting of the Association in Dallas, has announced a call for papers
for that meeting. The committee welcomes single papers but encour-
ages people to get together with friends and colleagues to submit pro-
posals for complete sessions. A complete session consists of a chairman
and three paper presenters (or two paper presenters with a commen-
tator). It is helpful if you send in as much information as possible to the
committee: (1) a session title; (2) the names, addresses, phone numbers,
and institutional affiliations (or hometowns, in the case of lay histo-
rians) of the chair, presenters, and commentator; and (3) titles of the
two or three individual papers and a one page (or less) summary of
each paper. We look forward to hearing from you. Please send your
proposals to John W. Crain, Dallas Historical Society, P.O. Box 26038,
Dallas 75226, and to George B. Ward, TSHA, 2.306 Richardson Hall,
University Station, Austin 78712. Proposals for the 1991 Dallas meet-
ing should be sent in by February 15, 199o (to be considered at the
committee's initial meeting) but no later than April 15, 1990 (in time
for the final committee meeting). If you have any questions about sub-
mitting proposals contact John or George. Other members of the 1991
committee are Mike Campbell of the University of North Texas, Adrian
Anderson of Lamar, Al Broussard of Texas A&M, Elizabeth Crook of
Austin, Gilberto Hinojosa of UT San Antonio, Dorothy DeMoss of
Texas Woman's University, Max Lale of Fort Worth, and Jim Maroney
of Lee College.
The Eleventh Annual Confederate History Symposium will be held
in the Performing Arts Center of Hill College on Saturday, March 31,
