Tuesday, June 1
Finished cutting wheat by 12 o'clock, hands went to plowing and
hoeing, 12 sweeping cotton, 20 hoeing cotton, Jane & Patsey at dif-
ferent jobs, Lev at the shop, Rich hunting hogs in the evening. Fin-
ished hoeing cotton, began the 3rd time in the evening.
Wednesday 2
12 hands sweeping cotton, 20 d[itt]o. hoeing, Patsey &8 Jane working
potato patch, Ryal carrying water to the hands, Rachel carrying to
the plow hands daily, Lev at the shop, Sam driving carriage. Fair and
warm, a stiff south breeze all day.
Thursday 3
20 hands hoeing, 12 do. plowing, Patsey & Jane working sweet po-
tato patch, Lev piddling at the shop, Alsey lying up. Fair and very
warm, rain wanted.
Friday 4
17 hands hoeing cotton, 12 do. sweeping cotton, Charles hauled 2
loads of wheat in the morning, Manuel & Clabe helping him, Charles
hauled wood to the house & quarter in the evening, hand thinning
corn after dinner and resetting potato patch, Lev at shop, Alsey at the
house. A fine season this evening, rain plentiful.
Saturday 5
Sent 2 mares to the jack, roan & bay. Hands all thinning corn until 8
o'clock, had the balance of the day to rest. Foggy and misty in the
morning, fair in the evening.
Sunday 6
Clear and pleasant today.
Monday 7
12 hands finished siding cotton 3rd time this evening, commenced
plowing out middles, 19 hands hoeing cotton, Patsey & Jane working
potato patch, Lev at the shop, Alsey spinning at the house, Rich went
