The Shore Art Gallcr) Is
offering ACU a new way of
Setting to know some pro
fessors and their artistic
state of mind
When I walked into the
gallery I was not expecting
what was there What 1 got
was a new insight into art
and a newfound discovery of
the talented professors here
at ACU Now I hac alwas
known that we hae a great
art department and talented
professors like Jack Max
well whose art is displayed
" on campus but what 1 did
not know was how many tal
cnted professors there are
who can create arious artis
tic pieces
The gallery is filled with
works from 14 different
professors and their art
pieces arc all different
They range from abstract
to watercolors to statues
to jewelry They all display
different tastes of what the
professors like and shed
light on what is pleasing to
the viewer's eye
There were many pieces
that I liked and found at
tractive but there was one
artist whose paintings stood
out to me the most
Sandra Willis created a water
color sequence of a summer
when she lived in Rome Her
pieces are refreshing to the eye
I think the watercolors caught
my attention because I am par
tJal to watercolors and I had
been staring at abstract pieces
by other artists that required
straining my brain as 1 tried to
comprehend them. I do like the
challenge of abstract pieces but
sometimes it can be too much
and I just want to look at some
thing and know exactly what it
is and what it is about
All of the pieces were de

signed In unique ways and
were distinctly conveyed for
the audience
Two pieces caught my eye lm
mediately when I walked In. The
pieces were pictures of hands
in different positions and there
was a mixed media video de
signed to show different angles
of detailed hands The video
showed the hands moving at a
fast speed which made it very
interesting and eyecatching I
liked this piece because It gave
you more than one way to sec
what Mike Wiggins was try
ing to share with the viewers
The same thing was also done
with the human cy c which was
something Intense to view
While walking around ad
miring the various pieces of
work the. pieces felt more
personal to me because they
were all created by profes
sors and not someone who
Is far away who I had ncv
er heard of When walking
around the Biblical pieces
from New ork last month
I enjoyed seeing all of the
creative and ordained pieces
but had no Idea who any of
the artists were This time
walking around the gallery
it felt different and I could
say to myself that I know e
actly who created this piece
and what they look like
Knowing who the artists
were added to my enjoyment
of admiring the incredible
pieces that were created by
professors I would recom
mend that all students and
facultystaff stop by the
Shore Art Gallery to admire
the works of art that our own
professors have thought up
and created to be displayed
All of the works are unique
and significant to ACU be
cause of the artists tics and
roles in our school
